State Route 61, Section 11S, Deer Lake Borough & West Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County
The project involves safety improvements along 4 miles of SR 61 including highway widening,
SR61/SR 895 and SR 61/SR 2014 intersection improvements, enhancement of local intersections,
jug handle construction, traffic signal installations, median barrier, guiderail, and drainage
improvements on existing alignment and partially along a split pair of travel lanes (approximately
1 mile long). Right of Way acquisition has recently begun and involves approximately 94 properties
including 16 total acquisitions, with 6 residential and 10 commercial sites being impacted.
The remaining 78 partial acquisitions involve 30 residential, 42 commercial, and 6 other parcels.
It is anticipated that an additional 20 tenant claims involving billboards and tenant interests will
be involved.
