US Wind Force, LLC

The West Virginia Public Service Commission granted a Siting Certificate to Pinnacle Wind Force, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of US Wind Force, LLC, for the construction and operation of the proposed wind power project known as “Pinnacle Wind Farm at NewPage”. The project is located along a 3.5-mile section of Green Mountain, southwest of Keyser in Mineral County, West Virginia. As approved by the Public Service Commission, the project will have 23 wind turbines, each with a nameplate capacity of 2.4 MW. The project is expected to generate about 170 million kilowatt-hours annually, enough electricity to power approximately 14,000 households.
The Siting Certificate is the primary permit required under West Virginia law for construction and operation of any new electric power generating facility. The Certificate is subject to a number of conditions, including the granting of various environmental and endangered species permits. US Wind Force expects to meet all of the conditions imposed by the Public Service Commission and commence construction of this $130 million project later this year.
US Wind Force will develop the project under a joint development agreement with a subsidiary of Edison International; a California based electric utility and generating company and the seventh largest developer of wind power projects in the United States. NewPage Corporation, the largest coated paper manufacturer in North America, is also a sponsor of the project. IAS has been working with US Wind Force on several wind energy projects in West Virginia and Maryland.
