Hulton Bridge Project

SR 2082 Section A08
Located in Harmar Township and Oakmont Borough
Allegheny County

The PA Department of Transportation will be replacing the Hulton Bridge and improving the Hulton Rd (SR 2082 Sec A08) and Freeport Rd (SR 1001 Sec A35)intersection. The new structure will be the region’s most recent river crossing in over 25 years. The State Roadway is classified as anUrbanRegional ArterialSuburban Center Route with an average daily traffic count of approximately 25,800 vehicles. The bridge is well known for being Pittsburgh’s “Purple Bridge”. It currently has 2 lanes – after construction 4 lanes will intersect with Freeport Rd and transition back to 2 lanes in Oakmont.

IAS has commenced acquisition activities on the 13 parcels identified on the GAP plan for the project. 5 residential and 3 non-residential and displacementswill result. Right of Way activities for the GAP plan are to conclude by fall of 2012 to allow for a spring 2013 construction letting. Construction activities are projected to proceed into 2015.
