City of Lebanon - Bridge Over Norfolk Southern
PA 72 - South 9th Street, and PA 72 - North 10th Street
Located in the City of Lebanon, Lebanon County
The City of Lebanon is bisected by Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks. City residents and emergency
service vehicles responding to fire and police calls constantly experience long delays as trains pass
through the city. The solution to the problem involves the construction of two bridges over the
Norfolk Southern tracks. The bridges will replace at grade crossing at 9th (PA 72 South) and
10th (PA 72 North) Streets in the city. The project involves the acquisition of approximately
65 parcels with 118 residential and 6 business relocations. Acquisitions and relocations began in
August 2007 and will be completed by winter 2009.
