Lewistown Narrows Project
State Route 0022 Sections A09, A10 and A11
Located in the Township of Derry, Mifflin County and the Township of Fermanagh, Juniata County
The PA Department of Transportation is currently replacing a dangerous seven mile stretch of
existing two-lane highway by constructing a new four lane limited access highway. A critical
part of the project is the reconstruction of the SR 0022 and SR 0322 intersection. The entire
project has been divided into three construction phases, with two sections ongoing and the
third scheduled to begin in late 2003. The total construction and right of way costs for the
project is approximately $130,000,000.00. Right-of-Way acquisition involved 129 total claims for
84 affected parcels, including 38 total displacements. Right of way clearance was obtained in
accordance with the construction-letting schedule. Construction activities are projected to
continue through 2005. IAS continues to provide litigation and related support to the Department.
