Project
Located in the Cities of Charles Town and Martinsburg
in Jefferson County
The WV Department of Transportation will be realigning
two lane Route 9 into a four lane highway from Martinsburg
to Charles Town, then to the Virginia state line. The
total estimated cost of the project is $208,000,000.00.
The acquisition phase of the project is divided into two
significant sections. In all, 120 parcels are affected
by the project, with 41 total displacements resulting.
Construction activities have already begun on a 0.3-mile
section near the state line. Altogether, 15 miles of roadway
will be improved by the project.
